Sophie Bardou (Violon)
Dès l'age de sept ans, elle commence au conservatoire l'étude du
violon classique.
Parallèlement, entre 1992 et 1995, elle suit plusieurs stages de
violon traditionnel irlandais à la Willie Clancy Summer School
(Irlande) en s’attachant au style particulier de musique
du county Clare.
En 1995, elle participe au groupe de jazz Scatcat Sextet
avec lequel elle se produit lors de nombreux concerts, et enregistre
un album, L'heure de la Fuite.
Elle participe à la création, en 1997, du Paris Ceili Band,
un orchestre de musique irlandaise qui anime bals et festivals
traditionnels en région parisienne et en province (notamment Festival
de Ris-Orangis), où elle rencontre Jean-Paul Moreau.
Fin 1998, elle fonde avec trois autres musiciens le groupe Popinsko,
quartet d'influences jazz et musiques traditionnelles.
Elle suit en 2001 l'école professionnelle de jazz Centre des
Musiques Didier Lockwood.
En 2002 elle écrit et réalise le spectacle musical La Goutte
d'eau, en tournée en France en 2003 et 2004.
En 2003 elle participe à la création du groupe Time To Time
et du Dusty Feet Ceili Band.
Elle donne également des cours de violon irlandais à l'Association
Irlandaise de Paris.

Sophie Bardou (fiddle)
At the age of seven,
she started learning the classical violin at an academy of music.
At the same time, between 1992 and 1995 she went on a number of courses
in traditional Irish fiddle playing at the Willie Clancy
Summer School, where she concentrated on the style peculiar to
County Clare.
In 1995, she played with the Scatcat Jazz Sextet, performing
in many concerts and made an album 'L'Heure de la Fuite'.
In 1997, she helped put together the Paris Ceili Band, an orchestra
that plays traditional Irish music at dances and festivals in the
Paris area and the provinces (in particuliar the festival of Ris-Orangis)
and meets with Jean-Paul Moreau.
Then in 1998, Sophie and three other musicians formed Popinsko,
a quartet influenced by jazz and trad styles.
In 2001, she attended the professional school of Jazz, Centre des
Musiques Didier Lockwood.
In 2002, she wrote and directed a musical show 'La Goutte d'Eau',
which toured France in 2003 and 2004.
Finally, in 2003, she helped form the bands Time To Time and
the Dusty Feet Ceili Band.
Sophie also teaches the Irish fiddle at the Association Irlandaise
in Paris. |
